The search of new agents capable of producing hepatic inflammation has advanced significantly during the last years. The isolation of 2 new viruses by molecular biology techniques has been reported recently. These viruses have proved to be identical isolates of the same virus, whose structural characteristics allow us to include it in the family Flavivirus. Whether this agent may cause hepatitis or not is under discussion. The parenteral route of transmission is considered as the main one, but sexual or even patient to patient spreading are not discarded. Due to the low capacity of the virus to induce an inmune responce, it has not been possible up to now to obtain a sufficiently safe serological assay, which makes difficult to conduct epidemiological studies at a large scale. %K AGENTES DE LA HEPATITIS GB %K HEPATITIS VIRAL HUMANA %K HEPATITIS AGENTS GB %K HEPATITIS %K VIRAL %K HUMAN %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0864-21251999000300017
