%X Se estudian 50 pacientes con tentativa de suicidio durante 1993 en el ¨¢rea de salud del Policl¨ªnico "Josu¨¦ Pa¨ªs Garc¨ªa" del Centro Urbano "Abel Santamar¨ªa" de Santiago de Cuba, mediante el Apgar familiar modificado, instrumento que mide el grado de funcionamiento familiar, adaptado despu¨¦s de estudios pilotos en la misma poblaci¨®n. Las categor¨ªas adaptaci¨®n, relaci¨®n, desarrollo, efecto y convivencia, as¨ª como el resultado general del Apgar, demostraron que la din¨¢mica familiar de las personas investigadas fue significativamente desfavorable, hallazgos que se validaron por las t¨¦cnicas estad¨ªsticas convencionales. Este trabajo propone la investigaci¨®n del fen¨®meno del suicidio con la perspectiva del enfoque sist¨¦mico de la familia y el individuo, modelo que se escapa a la tradici¨®n m¨¦dica, el cual se considera importante como instrumento para los m¨¦dicos de la familia. 50 patients who attempted suicide in 1993 at the health area of the "Josu¨¦ Pa¨ªs Garc¨ªa" Polyclinic from the "Abel Santamar¨ªa" Urban Center, in Santiago de Cuba, were studied by using the modified family Apgar, a tool that measures the family functioning degree, adaptation, relation, development, effect, and living together categories, as well as the Apgar's general result, showed that the family dynamics of the persons investigated was significantly unfavourable. These findings were validated by the conventional statistical techniques. This paper recommends the investigation of the sucide phenomenon with the perspective of the systemic approach of the family and the individual, a model hat escapes as an important tool for family physicians.
