Although the figures of tuberculosis in Cuba are among the lowest in America and Europe, its decreasing trend changed from 1992 on and there have been outbreaks of small magnitude, mainly in HIV patients. 86 medical histories of tuberculous patients reported by the hospital of the Institute of Tropical Medicine from 1994 to 1 995 were reviewed aimed at evaluating some clinical and epidemiological indicators. Finally, 68 that were discharged whit this diagnosis were evaluated. The EpiInfo-6 and Microsta programs were used in the statistical analysis. The highest number of cases was observed in the first trimester of 1994. Young ages (m = 32 years old) and males (67,6 %) predominated, as well as the new cases (91 %) and the clinical pulmonary form (91,2 %). The clinical and radiological examination prevailed (54,4 %). 2 out of 3 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were diagnosed by direct examination. 50 % of the HIV cases had no radiological manifestations. %K TUBERCULOSIS %K TUBERCULOSIS PULMONAR %K INFECCIONES POR VIH %K TUBERCULOSIS %K TUBERCULOSIS PULMONAR %K TUBERCULOSIS %K TUBERCULOSIS %K PULMONARY %K HIV INFECTIONS %K TUBERCULOSIS %K TUBERCULOSIS %K PULMONARY %U http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0864-21251999000300002
