%X Se realiz¨® un estudio transversal de las 42 malformaciones cong¨¦nitas mayores m¨¢s severas registradas en 2 ¨¢reas de salud del municipio Camag¨¹ey, a trav¨¦s de la revisi¨®n de historias cl¨ªnicas, certificados de defunci¨®n, necropsia y entrevistas a los padres con el objetivo de exponer la importancia que tiene el registro de malformaciones cong¨¦nitas en el nivel de atenci¨®n primaria. La incidencia al nacimiento de estos defectos tendi¨® a disminuir con el aumento de las interrupciones terap¨¦uticas de los fetos diagnosticados prenatalmente. El 59,52 % (n=25) de todas las malformaciones fueron diagnosticadas prenatalmente a trav¨¦s de la cuantificaci¨®n de la alfafetoprote¨ªna en suero materno y ultrasonido. A trav¨¦s del registro de las malformaciones cong¨¦nitas es posible conocer su incidencia a lo largo de los a os y evaluar el programa de diagn¨®stico prenatal de estos defectos, por lo que debe existir en todas las ¨¢reas de salud. A cross-sectional study of the 42 most severe major congenital malformations registered in 2 health areas of Camag¨¹ey municipality was carried out by reviewing medical histories, death certificates, necropsies and interviews to parents in order to express the importance of the registry of congenital malformations at the primary care level. The incidence of these birth defects tended to decline with the increase of the therapeutic abortions of the prenatally diagnosed fetuses. 59,52 % (n = 25) of all malformations were prenatally diagnosed by the quantitation of alpha-fetoprotein in maternal serum and ultrasonography. Through the register of congenital malformations it is possible to know their incidence along the years and to evaluate the program of prenatal diagnosis of these defects. That¡¯s why, it must exist in all health areas.
