%X Se realiz車 una revisi車n bibliogr芍fica acerca del consentimiento informado . Se analizaron las caracter赤sticas de la atenci車n y cuidados al paciente desde la antig邦edad, en las que predomin車 la llamada beneficencia paternalista, ya que el enfermo no ten赤a capacidad de decisi車n y estaba sometido al criterio del m谷dico, quien pose赤a toda la moral, autoridad y conocimientos suficientes para ordenarle lo que deb赤a hacer con su salud. Esto predomin車 durante mucho tiempo, hasta el surgimiento del consentimiento informado, donde la autonom赤a del paciente con relaci車n a las decisiones m谷dicas, adquiere gran importancia. A bibliographic review about informed consent was made. The characteristics of the attention given to the patient since ancient times were analyzed. At that time, there was a predominance of the so-called paternalist beneficence, since the patient did not have the capacity to decide and he was submitted to the physician's criterion who had all the moral, authority and enough knowledge to indicate him what to do with his health. This prevailed for a long time until the appearance of the informed consent, where the patient's autonomy regarding the medical decisions acquires a great importance.
