%X Faz-se necess¨¢rio uma busca de elementos que venham a facilitar a compreens o das origens do significante lacaniano, na tentativa de esclarecer, pela via do estruturalismo ling¨¹¨ªstico, at¨¦ onde vai, realmente, a influ¨ºncia saussuriana. Sabe-se que o significante lacaniano, mesmo tendo como refer¨ºncia epistemol¨®gica o significante saussuriano, ambos n o devem ser confundidos. Normalmente se atribui a Ferdinand de Saussure a inven  o da teoria do signo. Ressaltaremos, entretanto, que essa ¡°inven  o¡± ¨¦ bem anterior ¨¤s teorias do ling¨¹ista genebrino. Levaremos em conta as observa  es de Jean-Luc Nancy e Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, na medida em que esses autores demonstram que o deslocamento operado sobre o esquema saussuriano n o vai depender, como comumente se pensa, da autonomia do significante. Verificaremos, portanto, at¨¦ que ponto mostra-se leg¨ªtimo o uso do termo significante na teoria lacaniana. A search of elements becomes necessary to facilitate the understanding of the origins of the Lacan¡äs significant, in the attempt to explain through structural linguistic, the limits of the Saussure¡äs influence. It is known that the Lacan¡äs significant, even though has the Saussure¡äs influence as a reference in epistemology, both ¡°significant¡± must not be mistaken. It is usually attributed to Ferdinand de Saussure the invention of the theory of the linguistic sign. We will stand out, however, that this ¡°invention¡± is previous to the theories of the genevan linguist. We will observe the comments of Jean-Luc Nancy and Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe, to the point where these authors demonstrate that the displacement operated on the Saussure¡äs scheme will not depend on, as it is well known, the significant¡¯s autonomy. It will be verified, therefore, how legitimate it is, the use of the significant¡äs term in the Lacan¡äs theory.
