%X Se evalu車 un programa de atenci車n al anciano hipertenso candidato a cirug赤a mayor electiva, incluy車 valoraci車n cl赤nica, investigaciones, tratamiento y seguimiento hasta el posoperatorio inmediato. Una vez descartada la existencia de disautonom赤a simp芍tica cardiovascular, se utiliz車 la prueba de estimulaci車n por fr赤o como prueba f赤sica de provocaci車n de hipertensi車n arterial, m谷todo auxiliar en el diagn車stico de control tensional estable y gu赤a en la atenci車n terap谷utica. Ninguno de los 1 010 pacientes estudiados fue suspendido. Se concluy車 que la aplicaci車n del programa permite una reducci車n considerable de las suspensiones operatorias por hipertensi車n arterial en los ancianos. A program for the care of the hypertensive elderly candidate to elective major surgery was evaluated. Clinical assessment, research and follow-up to the immediate postoperative were included in the evaluation. Once the existance of cardiovascular sympathetic disautonomy was discarded, it was used the cold pressor test as a physical test to produce arterial hypertension. This is an auxiliary method in the diagnosis of steady blood pressure control and a guide in therapeutical care. None of the 1 010 patients under study was suspended. It was concluded that the implementation of the program allows to attain a considerable reduction of the surgical suspensions due to arterial hypertension in the elderly.
