%X Resumen: En este art赤culo se describen brevemente los dos enfoques ontol車gicos principalesdesde los que se han venido interpretando los modelos cosmol車gicos a lo largo de lahistoria: El enfoque instrumentalista, y el enfoque realista. Para el instrumentalismo, losmodelos cosmol車gicos ser赤an una ficci車n matem芍tica 迆til para salvar una serie de fen車menos.Para el realismo, dichos modelos constituir赤an una descripci車n de c車mo es realmenteel universo. Al hilo de algunos ejemplos hist車ricos, se discuten las situaciones que favorecenun enfoque instrumentalista y las que favorecen un enfoque realista de la cosmolog赤a.Esta discusi車n nos permite plantearnos la pregunta de si es m芍s plausible considerar losmodelos actuales como descripciones realistas o como ficciones. Se esbozar芍n algunos delos elementos a tener en cuenta para decidir este asunto en el caso de la cosmolog赤arelativista y de la cosmolog赤a cu芍ntica.Abstract: The two main views of the interpretation of cosmological models throughhistory are discussed in this article: They are the instrumentalist and the realistic view.For instrumentalism, the models are mathematical fictions that are useful for connectingthe description of a number of phenomena. For realism, such models are descriptions ofthe real nature of the universe. My aim is to show (through the consideration of somehistorical instances) a number of criteria that are useful to determine the plausibility ofa realistic (respectively an instrumentalist) account of a given cosmological model. Thediscussion of such criteria makes it possible to outline an answer to the question concerningthe realism (respectively instrumentalism) of the models of modern cosmology. Someaspects of this issue in the case of standard relativistic cosmology and quantum cosmologywill be considered.
