%X Conocer que en la Farmacia "Garay", en la ciudad de Sagua la Grande, provincia de Villa Clara, Cuba, consultaban, prescrib¨ªan, preparaban y expend¨ªan medicamentos homeop¨¢ticos, con gran demanda y aceptaci¨®n, desde 1918 y hasta 1963, determin¨® que nos propusi¨¦ramos caracterizar su funcionamiento. Como t¨¦cnica cualitativa para obtener la informaci¨®n se utiliz¨® la entrevista no estructurada aplicada en forma individual a 58 personas (m¨¦dicos, farmac¨¦uticos o pr¨¢cticos de farmacia de la ¨¦poca estudiada, conocedores de la historia de la ciudad, vecinos de las cuadras en que viv¨ªa la familia Garay y estaba situada la Farmacia, familiares contempor¨¢neos, internos del Hogar de Ancianos y asistentes a la Casa del Abuelo). No hay antecedente de tan prolongada existencia de la homeopat¨ªa en nuestro pa¨ªs, lo que nos permite afirmar que fue en esta ciudad donde estuvo el ¨²ltimo basti¨®n de la homeopat¨ªa en Cuba en su primera etapa, como baluarte de esta terap¨¦utica. After learning that in "Garay" Pharmacy, located in Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara province, Cuba, patients were seen and highly demanded and accepted homeopathic drugs were prescribed, prepared and sold from 1918 to 1963, we decided to characterize the functioning of this place. As a qualitative technique to obtain information, we used the individual non-structured interview applied to 58 persons (physicians, pharmacists, or pharmacy aides at that time, people who know the local history very well, people that used to live in Garay¡äs family neighborhood or near the pharmacy, contemporary relatives of the family, residents of the Home for the Aged and older people going to the House of Grandparents. There is no antecedent of such an extended presence of homeopathy in Cuba, which allows us to state that it was in this city where the last bastion of this therapeutics in its first stage was located.
