%X Con el objetivo de establecer las bases para la implementaci車n futura de un Programa de Atenci車n Farmac谷utica, se realiz車 un diagn車stico de algunas caracter赤sticas de los servicios farmac谷uticos comunitarios de las provincias occidentales cubanas y el municipio especial Isla de la Juventud , a partir de la informaci車n obtenida en la Supervisi車n Nacional realizada a 791 farmacias comunitarias del territorio, durante los meses de febrero a diciembre del a o 2004. Se identificaron y calcularon indicadores relacionados con la poblaci車n, cantidad de farmacias, su clasificaci車n y presencia del profesional farmac谷utico; se encontr車 que en esta regi車n de Cuba, existe una distribuci車n heterog谷nea de las farmacias comunitarias, no relacionada con la poblaci車n, as赤 como una baja proporci車n de licenciados por farmacia, independientemente de que est芍n presentes, en todas las provincias, los 4 tipos de farmacia establecidos en el pa赤s. Se profundiz車 en el an芍lisis de la capital, Ciudad de La Habana; se concluy車 que sus caracter赤sticas son similares a las encontradas para toda la regi車n occidental. For the purpose of laying down the foundations for the future implementation of a Pharmaceutical Care Program, a diagnosis of some features of the community-based pharmaceutical services in the Western provinces and in Isle of Youth municipality was made, taking data from the National Supervision performed in 791 drugstores of these territories from February to December, 2004 into consideration. Indicators related to population, number of drugstores, their classification and the presence of pharmaceutical professional staff were identified and estimated. It was found that in this Cuban region, there exist heterogeneous distribution of community-based drugstores which is not dependent on the size of population, and low ratio of Bachelors of Pharmacy per drugstore, regardless of the fact that the 4 types of drugstores approved in the country are present in these provinces. A thorough analysis of City of Havana, the capital of the country, was made. It was concluded that their characteristics are comparable to those found in the rest of the Western region.
