Junto a otras disciplinas que han coadyuvado al desarrollo de la Biotecnolog¨ªa en la naci¨®n, la Farmacocin¨¦tica ha desempe ado una funci¨®n importante, tanto para el registro de nuevas mol¨¦culas como para la comercializaci¨®n de biogen¨¦ricos. La interrelaci¨®n de la demanda social, la funci¨®n de las universidades, el desarrollo de la industria y las corrientes disciplinarias son analizadas a partir de establecerse un enfoque sist¨¦mico, que comprueba c¨®mo ha sido el cumplimiento de los nexos entre los subsistemas implantados por la sociedad cubana. Todo ello ha contribuido al aporte de bienes cient¨ªficos, sociales y econ¨®micos. Biotechnology has become not only a scientific but a social phenomenon in Cuba due to its impact on the public health and domestic economy. Along with other disciplines that have supported the development of this science in the nation, pharmacokinetics has played an important role in both the registration of new molecules and the marketing of biogenerics. The interrelationship among the social demands, the role of universities, the development of the industry and the disciplinary trends were analyzed, taking as a basis a systemic approach that verifies how the links among the subsystems set by the Cuban society have worked.
