%X Se exponen las circunstancias relacionadas con la incorporaci¨®n de la mujer a los estudios universitarios en Cuba, despu¨¦s de vencer los obst¨¢culos de diversa ¨ªndole que durante siglos le negaron toda posibilidad de desarrollo intelectual y solo la responsabilizaron con la maternidad y el trabajo en el hogar. Aunque la primera y ¨²nica universidad existente en Cuba durante todo el per¨ªodo colonial hab¨ªa sido fundada en 1728, fue el curso 1883-1884 el que marc¨® el inicio de la presencia femenina en sus aulas. Se mencionan las estudiantes matriculadas ese curso y las primeras que se graduaron de licenciadas y de doctoras en Farmacia. Tambi¨¦n se hace referencia a las primeras farmac¨¦uticas que habilitaron los t¨ªtulos obtenidos en el extranjero, las primeras mujeres que ocuparon una plaza docente universitaria en Cuba y las pioneras en el ejercicio de la profesi¨®n. Several circumstances linked to the incorporation of females to university studies in Cuba, after overcoming various obstacles that had denied their access to intellectual development and supported their only responsibility as mothers and housekeepers, were presented in this paper. Although the first and only Cuban university during the colonial times had been founded in 1728, it was the 1883-1884 academic course the one which marked the beginning of the female entrance into the university classrooms. There were mentioned the female students registered in that course and the first ones who graduated as Bachelors of Pharmacy and Doctors of Pharmacy. Reference was also made to the first female pharmacists who validated their titles given abroad; the first women that had held teaching post at the Cuban university and the pioneers in exercising the profession.
