The objective of this study was to identify climatically homogeneous regions in the state of S o Paulo, based on data collected at several experimental stations of S o Paulo State Forest Institute to support deployment of Pinus maximinoi for experimental plantings. Thirty experimental areas and climatic data for each meteorological station were subjected to cluster analysis interpreted according to the resulting dendrograms. Climatic requirements for this species were verified in the scientific literature and assessed in experimental plantings. The most adequate experimental stations for P. maximinoi are in Angatuba, region that includes Buri, Piraj¨², Itapeva, Avar¨¦, Itapetininga, and Itarar¨¦ Stations. The climate in the region is Cwa. The stations in the group including Bebedouro, S o Jos¨¦ do Rio Preto, and Ilha Solteira are not recommended for the species because of the warmer climate and water stress during the summer months. Campos do Jord o Station is also not recommended due to frequent frosts. For intermediate areas, could be identified specific genotypes that are adaptable to each specific climatic conditions. doi: 10.4336/2012.pfb.32.69.79 A grande diversidade clim¨¢tica do Estado de S o Paulo exerce influ¨ºncia na adapta o das esp¨¦cies e na produtividade das planta es florestais e, por isto, os locais para plantio e experimenta o florestal devem ser cuidadosamente escolhidos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar as esta es experimentais climaticamente homog¨ºneas do Instituto Florestal de S o Paulo para subsidiar o planejamento da implanta o de experimentos de Pinus maximinoi. Foram selecionadas 30 ¨¢reas experimentais e os dados clim¨¢ticos referentes a cada esta o experimental foram organizados em planilhas, submetidos ¨¤ an¨¢lise de agrupamento e os resultados interpretados a partir da visualiza o dos dendrogramas. As exig¨ºncias clim¨¢ticas das esp¨¦cies foram verificadas em literatura cient¨ªfica e nos resultados de plantios experimentais. As ¨¢reas preferenciais para o plantio concentram-se em torno do munic¨ªpio de Angatuba (Buri, Piraj¨², Itapeva, Avar¨¦, Itapetininga e Itarar¨¦), de clima Cwa. As ¨¢reas de Bebedouro, S o Jos¨¦ do Rio Preto e Ilha Solteira n o s o recomendadas ao plantio devido ao clima quente e defici¨ºncia h¨ªdrica no inverno. Tampouco Campos do Jord o ¨¦ recomendada, devido ¨¤s frequentes geadas.
