%X La familia es un elemento activo y mediador en las relaciones de los individuos con la sociedad. Es el componente estructural m芍s peque o de la sociedad, pero de vital significaci車n. Los estomat車logos deben conocer la situaci車n de salud de las familias en su comunidad, sus peculiaridades, sistema de valores, costumbres, tradiciones, situaciones por las que atraviesan, as赤 podr芍 dirigir su trabajo de promoci車n y educaci車n para la salud bucal hacia ella. Con el objetivo de profundizar en la relaci車n de la familia y el estomat車logo, en la salud bucal de la poblaci車n, se realiz車 una consulta bibliogr芍fica de 60 art赤culos a trav谷s de bibliotecas, Infomed, Pubmed, Scielo, y se seleccionaron 35 art赤culos, para lo cual se tuvo en cuenta para su inclusi車n la actualidad y la relaci車n con el tema. Se lleg車 a la conclusi車n de que en la medida en que el individuo y la familia valoren y participen en la preservaci車n de la salud, se obtendr芍n mejores resultados en el futuro. Se debe continuar perfeccionando la cultura sobre la salud bucal de la familia y en esta actividad es de vital importancia el trabajo de los estomat車logos ya que son los que gu赤an y orientan la elevaci車n del nivel de educaci車n. In the relationship between the individuals and the society, the family plays an active and functional role. Even though the family is the smallest structural component of society, it has vital significance. Dentistry specialists should know as much as possible the health situation in the community, the peculiarities, the system of values, customs and traditions, the existing situations, so that they might focus the promotion and educational work in oral health on its members. With the objective of delving into the relationship between the family and the dentist, a literature review was made in Infomed, Pubmed and Scielo. From 60 articles, 35 were selected on the basis of updating and linking to the topic. It was concluded that as the individual and the family assess and participate in oral health preservation in a greater extent, the future results will be better. Education on oral health must be upgraded, and for this, the work of dentists is of vital importance, since they are responsible for guiding and giving orientations to raise the educational level in this field.
