%X El objetivo de este art¨ªculo es discutir el texto autobigr¨¢fico del escritor chileno Fernando Santiv¨¢n, Memorias de un tolstoyano (1955), enfoc¨¢ndose en las relaciones homosociales y el subtexto homoer¨®tico, as¨ª como sus implicaciones ¨¦ticas y est¨¦ticas. En el an¨¢lisis nos importa destacar que una de las mayores virtudes ret¨®ricas de este texto es lograr una representaci¨®n socialmente aceptable de las relaciones entre Santiv¨¢n y su mentor e ¨ªntimo amigo Augusto D'Halmar, sin llegar a mencionar expl¨ªcitamente el homoerotismo pero dejando huellas innegables de ello This article aims to discuss the autobiography Memoreas of a tolstoyan by the Chilean author Fernando Santiv¨¢n (1955), focusing on homosocial relationships and the homoerotic subtext, as well as ethical and aesthetic implications. In the analysis I want to stress that one of the most important rhetorical qualities of this text is to achieve a socially acceptable representation of the relationship between Santiv¨¢n and Augusto D'Halmar, his mentor and intimate friend, without explicitly mentioning their homoeroticism although traces of it cannot be denied
