%X This article attempts to approach the sounds linked to power in colonial Santiago, Chile originating from a hypothesis that proposes a transition from the hegemonic ecclesiastical bell to the preponderance of military armament. A transition that is observed to be in direct connection with the process that was developing at a local and imperial level in relation with the military participation in administrative matters and in public spaces.
