%0 Journal Article %T Las revoluciones hispanoamericanas vistas desde el siglo XXI %A Alfredo ¨¢vila %J HIb Revista de Historia Iberoamericana %D 2008 %I Universia %X In recent years works have been published that stress their revisionistcharacter of the patriotic narratives of the ¡°Wars of Independence.¡± Some ofthese books were published before 1980, but only in the 1980s and 1990s aconsiderable number of studies appeared with this particular emphasis. Generalworks such as the ones written by Tulio Halper¨ªn, Fran ois-Xavier Guerra andJaime Rodr¨ªguez have been decisive and serve as guides to understandingeach of the Latin American regions. These works have reminded us that nationsdid not exist before the emancipation processes, interpreting the first quarter ofthe nineteenth century as a period of dissolution of the Spanish Monarchy.
