%X El criterio b芍sico de la pol赤tica educacional del Estado tiene como finalidad formar tanto a la nueva generaci車n como capacitar a los t谷cnicos y desarrollar en toda su plenitud su potencial intelectual, f赤sico y espiritual; por este motivo se realiz車 un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo y longitudinal en los hospitales maternos del Norte y Sur, as赤 como en el militar "Dr. Joaqu赤n Castillo Duany" de Santiago de Cuba, con el prop車sito de precisar, los resultados de la formaci車n de los estudiantes de los cursos posb芍sico de Enfermer赤a desde 1991 hasta 1996. El universo estuvo integrado por 415 estudiantes, con el mayor n迆mero en la especialidad de Cuidados Intensivos. Los datos se tabularon de forma manual y se us車 el porcentaje como medida de resumen. Hubo predominio del sexo femenino y del grupo etario de 25-27 a os. Desde 1993 hasta 1996, se produjo un incremento en los resultados obtenidos en los ex芍menes finales integrales. Entre las actividades educativas sobresalieron la higienizaci車n y las donaciones de sangre. La formaci車n de este personal incidi車 en la elevaci車n de la calidad del trabajo en el equipo de salud y, por ende, en el perfeccionamiento de los servicios de salud en todos los niveles de atenci車n. The basic criterion of the educational policy of the state has the aim of forming the new generation, training the technicians and developing fully their intelectual, physical and spiritual potencial; for this reason a descriptive, retrospective and longitudinal study was performed in the Northern and Southern maternal hospitals as well as in "Dr. Joaquin Castillo Duany" army hospital of Santiago de Cuba province, with the purponse of specifying the results in the training of the students of the Nursing postbasic courses from 1991 to 1996. The group was formed by 415 students, being tyhe largest number in the Intensive Care speciality. The data were tabulated manually and the percentage was used as a measure of summary. There was prevalence of the female sex and the age group of 25-27 years old. From 1993 to 1996, there was an increase in the results obtained in the final comprehensive exams. Among the educational activities hygienization and blood donations stood out. The training of this staff contributed to increase the quality of the work in the health team and therefore the improvement of the health services in the all the levels of care as well.
