%X Introducci車n: En el Policl赤nico Docente Dr. Diego Tamayo Municipio La Habana Vieja, en la Habana, se detecto una alta incidencia de embarazo en la adolescencia, hecho que preocup車 dada la repercusi車n que esto tiene en el desarrollo de los adolescentes. Objetivo: Identificar los conocimientos de las adolescentes sobre la prevenci車n del embarazo en esta etapa de la vida. M谷todos: Se realiz車 un estudio descriptivo, de tipo observacional, de corte transversal, en el periodo comprendido de Julio/ 2010 a Octubre/ 2011. Se trabaj車 con un universo de 125 adolescentes que asistieron a la consulta de regulaci車n menstrual, las cuales cumplieron con los criterios de inclusi車n. Se aplic車 un cuestionario, donde se obtuvo la informaci車n que permiti車 conocer el conocimiento de las adolescentes con respecto al tema objeto de estudio, los datos obtenidos se reflejaron en tablas adecuadas a cada variable analizada. Resultados: El mayor porciento de las adolescentes encuestadas comenz車 sus relaciones sexuales entre los 14 y 16 a os. Las v赤as a las que m芍s acceden son los familiares, seguidos de la TV y amigos. En cuanto a la connotaci車n social que le atribuyen los adolescentes al embarazo se observ車 que identifican las complicaciones en el embarazo o el parto como uno de los problemas que trae consigo el embarazo a edades tempranas. Introduction: In "Dr. Diego Tamayo" Polyclinic of Old Havana Municipality, in Havana, it was detected a high incidence of pregnancy in adolescence, fact that worried given the impact that this has on the development of adolescents. Objective: To identify the knowledge of adolescents on the prevention of pregnancy at this stage of life. Methods: A descriptive study, observational type, cross-section was made, in the period July/2010 October/2011. We worked with a group of 125 adolescents who attended the consultation of menstrual regulation, which met the inclusion criteria. A questionnaire was applied, where the information obtained allowed to know the knowledge of adolescents with respect to the subject under study, the collected data were reflected in appropriate tables adapted to each analyzed variable. Results: The highest percent of the surveyed teenagers began their sexual relations between 14 and 16 years old. The way to access the most are the relatives, followed by the TV and friends. As far as the social connotations attributed by the teenagers to the pregnancy it was found that they identified complications in pregnancy or childbirth as one of the problems that come with pregnancy at an early age.
