%X En el siguiente art¨ªculo, me propongo indagar la especificidad del lugar del h¨¦roe en dos cuentos kaw¨¦sqar: el cuento de Ann¨¢pas y el del rat¨®n. A partir de la lectura y an¨¢lisis de los textos orales de este grupo ¨¦tnico del extremo sur de Chile, sostengo que la heroicidad, ligada siempre al car¨¢cter masculino, tiene una existencia ¨²nica y diferenciada, que se manifesta, en el primer caso, a trav¨¦s de una ret¨®rica de acciones ligadas a la confrontaci¨®n y al poder y, en el segundo ejemplo, a la superaci¨®n del abandono y la adversidad, gracias a dones privilegiados para la resistencia y el sacrificio, lo que conduce a la reformulaci¨®n de los pactos sociales. El h¨¦roe, de esa manera, se transforma en una met¨¢fora del ser masculino kaw¨¦sqar, obteniendo por ello, prestigio comunitario. In this article my aim is to study the specificity of the role of the hero in two Kaw¨¦sqar stories: the Tale of Annapas and the Tale of the mouse. From the reading and analysis of oral texts of this ethnic group from southern Chile, I hold that heroism, similarly linked to male character has a unique and differentiated existence, which manifests itself in the first case, through a rhetoric of actions linked to the confrontation and power and, in the second example, neglect and overcoming adversity, thanks to privileged gifts for resistance and sacrifice, which leads to the reformulation of social pacts. The hero, thus, becomes a metaphor of being male Kaw¨¦sqar, obtaining therefore community prestige.
