In aphasias, where there are alterations in language functioning following brain injuries, ND presupposes that the subjects, with their experience as speakers, have not completely lost their linguistic competence; they reorganize their verbal and non-verbal utterances using the linguistic resources which still have remained. The present study analyzes the production of a subject with efferent motor aphasia, of a severe degree, and: i) describes the characteristics of his utterances, which in traditional literature are considered as ¡°recurring utterances¡±; ii) interprets his rich non-verbal expressions; iii) demonstrates how the casestudy may be considered as a productive methodology for the Neurolinguistics theory. The longitudinal follow-up was chosen as the research methodology and the analyses are qualitative. At the end of the research, it was possible to better understand the subject strategy¡¯s to signify by means of the non-verbal language, despite his difficulties, which grounds the therapeutic work with subjects with severe cases of aphasia. %K Neurolinguistics %K Aphasia %K Gesture %K Non-verbal language %U http://periodicos.urca.br/ojs/index.php/MacREN/article/view/388/320
