%X ResumoO objetivo deste artigo ¨¦ propor uma breve reflex o acerca do profissionalismo, encarado como um processo social desenvolvido por certas ocupa  es na modernidade e sua rela  o com outras esferas da vida social, tais como as institui  es educacionais e o Estado. Dessa forma, o profissionalismo consegue a legitimidade frente ¨¤ sociedade para exercer certo monop¨®lio sobre pr¨¢ticas ocupacionais. A compreens o sobre esse processo social espec¨ªfico pode lan ar luz para o entendimento das pr¨¢ticas e rela  es de trabalho no mundo contemporaneo, assim como acerca da autoridade sobre saberes especializados que guiam nossas vidas cotidianas. ABSTRACT The focus of this article is recommend a short reflection about the professionalism, faced as a social process created by some occupations in the modernity and its relationship with other social life groups, like educational institutions and the State. This way, the professionalism gains the authenticity in relation to the society to put in practice the monopoly upon the occupational practices. The comprehension about this particular social process can be useful to the understanding of the labor practices and connection in the contemporary world, and also about the specific knowledge authority who guides our daily lives.
