%X This article aims at investigating what other ¡°voices¡± also speak in the discourse transmitted through the presence of an iconic image of American culture and a headline on the cover of a traditional American magazine. In the light of the French school of discourse analysis, also based on Bakhtin¡¯s notion of ¡°dialogism¡±, this is an attempt to demonstrate the heterogeneous nature of every text, may it be verbal or non-verbal.
