%X This article is a na f introduction to contemporary Indian literature produced in English language. Based on a series of reviews published in the New York Times in the last decade or so, this piece of work proposes to present and discuss a selected group of Indian writers, with special emphasis placed on Jhumpa Lahiri and on two of her short story collections, Interpreter of Maladies (1999) and Unaccustomed Earth (2008).
