%X Los cambios que se han producido en los 迆ltimos 20 a os por el mejor conocimiento de todo lo relacionado con el reflujo gastroesof芍gico han sido realmente innovadores. Esto se ha conseguido porque el desarrollo tecnol車gico ha puesto a nuestro servicio diferentes m谷todos diagn車sticos que nos han permitido conocer en profundidad, no solo la fisiolog赤a de la uni車n gastroesof芍gica, sino tambi谷n la del es車fago. En este sentido, la introducci車n de tales m谷todos, hoy al alcance de cualquier hospital, como la manometr赤a y pHmetr赤a esof芍gica, y en otros casos un poco m芍s sofisticados como la manometr赤a de alta resoluci車n, han permitido identificar con suma precisi車n el comportamiento de la presi車n del esf赤nter esof芍gico inferior, as赤 como la verificaci車n de la presencia de 芍cido en el es車fago, coincidiendo con la disminuci車n de la presi車n de dicho esf赤nter. Es as赤 como la enfermedad por reflujo gastroesof芍gico (ERGE) es considerada como una enfermedad multifactorial; aunque el reflujo gastroesof芍gico es una condici車n fisiol車gica, en determinadas circunstancias puede hacerse patol車gico, ocasionando una de las afecciones digestivas por la cual los individuos se ven obligados a consultar no solo al especialista sino tambi谷n al m谷dico general. El mejor entendimiento de las bases fisiopatol車gicas de una enfermedad hace que logremos un mejor acercamiento diagn車stico y terap谷utico, raz車n por la cual se hace esta revisi車n. The changes that have occurred in the last 20 years in the better understanding of everything associated with gastroesophageal reflux have been truly spectacular. This was achieved because the technological development has brought to our survey techniques that have enabled us to know very thoroughly, not only the physiology of the gastro-union, but also that of the esophagus. In this sense, the introduction of such methods now available to any hospital, such as esophageal manometry and pH, and in other cases a little more sophisticated like high-resolution manometry, have identified with great precision the behavior of the sphincter lower esophagus, as well as the finding of the presence of acid in the esophagus. Thus the pathogenesis of gastroesophageal reflux disease is considered a multifactorial disease, but gastroesophageal reflux is a physiological condition, in certain circumstances can become pathological, causing a digestive disorders in which individuals are forced to refer not only to the specialist but also to the general practitioner.
