%X RESUMENSe define como objeto de conocimiento de la psicolog赤a el comportamiento individual entendido como las interaccionesdel individuo con objetos espec赤ficos en su medio. A partir de ah赤, se establecen las diferencias entre los campos propios dela psicolog赤a y las ciencias sociales, por un lado, y frente a las ciencias biol車gicas, por el otro. A continuaci車n se describenlas metas cient赤ficas que se derivan de tal caracterizaci車n del objeto de estudio. Estas metas son la descripci車n, la explicaci車n,la predicci車n y el control. Las dos 迆ltimas no se asumen necesariamente en el sentido de predicci車n y control pr芍cticos, peros赤 como criterios de validaci車n de la explicaci車n cient赤fica.ABSTRACTIt is defined as subject matter of psychology the individual behavior, being understood as such the interactionsbetween an individual with specific objects and events in his or her environment. From here, it is posed the differencesbetween the proper fields, on one hand, of psychology and social sciences, and, on the other, psychology and biology.Then, the scientific goals of psychology, derived from the characterization of its subject matter, are described. They aredescription, explanation, prediction and control. These two last are not to be necessarily assumed in the sense of practicalprediction and control, but are as criteria for validation of scientific explanation.
