%X In the present work, I review, in the first place, the bibliography that summarizes the discussion surrounding the etymology of the word che. Then, I analyze the uses of this term in the diachrony as in the synchrony of the R赤o de la Plata Spanish, which allows me to propose a classification of the uses of the word che in this region. In the third part of the article, I discuss the categorial adscrption of the word che. Finally, the categorial analysis of the diachronic and synchronic empirical evidence allows me to conclude that the vocative uses of the term are a loan from the nominal determinant of the guaran赤 language, and not a phonic change in the Spanish interjection, thus resolving the etymological issues. En este art赤culo, reviso en primer lugar la bibliograf赤a que resume la discusi車n sobre la etimolog赤a del vocablo che. En segunda instancia, analizo los usos de este t谷rmino tanto en la diacron赤a como en la sincron赤a rioplatense, lo cual me permite proponer una clasificaci車n de los usos de che en esta regi車n. A partir de esta clasificaci車n, en la tercera parte del trabajo, discuto la adscripci車n categorial de che. Finalmente, el an芍lisis categorial de la evidencia emp赤rica diacr車nica y sincr車nica me permite concluir que los usos vocativos son un pr谷stamo de un determinante nominal de la lengua guaran赤 y no un cambio f車nico en una interjecci車n del espa ol, resolviendo as赤 la cuesti車n etimol車gica.
