Por outro lado, dentro de uma concep  o que setornar芍 determinante na hist車ria do Ocidente at谷 Maquiavel, Tom芍s subordina a pol赤tica e o direito 角谷tica. Nada disso seria poss赤vel se estas ci那ncias, por sua vez, n o estivessem fundamentadas numametaf赤sica s車lida. De que metaf赤sica se trata? 谷 importante abordar, mesmo que brevemente, essa no  o eas no  es principais da metaf赤sica tomista, que chamamos de tomismo essencial, para que se possaentender sua teoria sobre a justi a. Assim como todo o pensamento de Santo Tom芍s, esta teoria sofreuimportantes transforma  es em sua hist車ria, marcadas, sobretudo, por um desvio da metaf赤sica do ser. Arecupera  o da sua metaf赤sica original permite compreender conceitos como o de lei e de direito naturalna dinamica da participa  o do ser, assim como entender a justi a como uma virtude ascendente conexaa outras virtudes, sem as quais n o pode ser realizada. // St. Thomas Aquinas received from Aristotle the conception of the excellence of Politics, andcommenting on the work of Aristotle, he calls this knowledge architectural science. On the other hand, ina conception that will become crucial in the history of the West to Machiavelli, Thomas submits Lawand Politics to Ethics. None of this would be possible if these sciences, in turn, were not grounded in asolid metaphysical. What is metaphysics? It is important to address, albeit briefly, this notion and themain notions of Thomistic metaphysics, which we call essential Thomism, so you can understand histheory of justice. Just like the thought of St. Thomas, this theory has undergone significanttransformations in its history, marked mainly by a deviation from the metaphysics of being. The recoveryof its original metaphysical allows us to understand the concepts of law and natural right in the dynamicsof participation of being, as well as understanding of justice as a virtue ascending related to other virtues,without which it cannot be performed.
