Based on theextensive Life-cycle assessment (LCA) conducted by variousnetwork operators, it is learned that energy consumption in theusage phase of its radio access networks is the most imminentfactor relating to impact on athe environment. The amount ofCO2 emission is increasing in communication system, inparallel with increase in mobile consumers. And it is alsoobserved that current wireless networks are not energyefficient, mainly the base stations (BS). This alarming growthin mobile users forces us to use higher data rate mobilebroadband. The need for restructuring of existing networkarchitecture, we need to control the systems in every basestation. This paper discusses the current energy consumptionscenario in base station devices. It also describes innovativeand promising method for enhancing the energy-efficiency ofthe wireless networks and developing solutions that reduceoperating costs and effects on the environment. %K CO2 emission reduction %K Energy efficientwireless network %K Green Radio Technology %K Power saving inbase stations %U http://www.ijiee.org/papers/261-L0053.pdf
