%X Este trabajo propone una reflexi¨®n sobre el concepto de  texto m¨¦dico-jur¨ªdico  y sobre los problemas que plantea su traducci¨®n. Para ello se definen en primer lugar los ¨¢mbitos y situaciones en que surgen y se ofrece un cat¨¢logo no exhaustivo de los m¨¢s habituales. Cada g¨¦nero o grupo de g¨¦neros m¨¦dico-jur¨ªdicos se describe brevemente y se analiza el tipo de encargo de traducci¨®n profesional en que se encuadran, as¨ª como las consideraciones traductol¨®gicas que llevan aparejadas. ------------------------------------------------- An approach to medico-legal translation. This article addresses the concept of the medico-legal text and the problem involved in translating this type of text. The fields and communicative situations which give rise to these texts are defined, and an abridged list of the most common types of text is provided. A brief description is given for each medico-legal genre or group of genres, with an analysis of the type of professional translation assignment under which it falls and any associated considerations for translation.
