%X In this study the author presents the main characteristics of the services and programs of electronic monitoring of culprits and convicts, at the same time revealing both the strong points and the shortcomings thereof, found in the implementation process.Furthermore, the author pleads for the organization of a serious debate at national level on the necessity and timeliness of implementing such services and programs in Romania, in the context of the present criminal reform.
