%0 Journal Article %T A Game-Like Intelligent Tutoring System for the enhancement of learners¡¯ s motivation %A Emmanuel Blanchard %A Claude Frasson %J STICEF %D 2007 %I %X In this paper we discuss recommendations to facilitate conception and development of Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITS) that will be able to maintain and/or enhance learners¡¯ motivation during learning sessions. Those recommendations are based on the self determination theory. This theory proposes three basic psychological needs, whose satisfaction will determine individual¡¯s quality of motivation. Those needs refer to the autonomy, competence and relatedness felt by an individual.
