%X Stem cells have demonstrated significant potential for regeneration in peripheral arterial disease in both animal and human studies. While results of clinical trials have been variable, they have clearly displayed benefit for patients with critical limb ischemia and peripheral arterial disease. Because many of these patients are not eligible for revascularization procedures, there is urgent need for novel therapies. A summary of all clinical trials using stem cell therapy in peripheral arterial disease is described herein with the pertinent findings from each study.
