%X Las caracter¨ªsticas morfol¨®gicas de sangre perif¨¦rica del pez Salminus maxillosus fueron descritas usando microscop¨ªa de luz. Para demostrar el comportamiento citoqu¨ªmico de las c¨¦lulas sangu¨ªneas del pez en estudio, fueron aplicados m¨¦todos espec¨ªficos para la detecci¨®n de cuatro tipos b¨¢sicos de componentes macromoleculares, de naturaleza qu¨ªmica diferente: carbohidratos, l¨ªpidos, prote¨ªnas enzim¨¢ticas y estructurales. Fueron observados 6 tipos de c¨¦lulas: eritrocitos, trombocitos, monocitos, linfocitos, neutr¨®filos de los tipos I y II y eosin¨®filos. Los trombocitos y los neutr¨®filos de los tipos I y II presentaron gluc¨®geno en el citoplasma. Los neutr¨®filos del tipo II presentan gr¨¢nulos sudan¨®filos y mieloperoxidasa. Adem¨¢s presentan, reacci¨®n difusa intensa para prote¨ªnas en el citoplasma. Los eosin¨®filos muestran reacci¨®n intensa en sus gr¨¢nulos. The blood cells of fish Salminus maxillosus were studied by means of light microscopy and citochemistry techniques. For citochemistry analisis, we used specific methods for detection of 4 basic macromolecules types, that had different chemistry nature: carbohidrates, lipids, proteins enzimatics and structural. Cells that were differentiated were: erythrocytes, thrombocytes, monophils, lymphocytes, neutrophils type I and II and eosinophils. The thrombocytes, and neutrophils type I and II shows glicogen in the cytoplasm. The neutrophils type II revealed sudanophils and mieloperoxid positive granules and difuse weak reaction for proteins in the cytoplasm. The eosinophils shows strong reaction in cytoplasmic granules.
