%X Se describe la estructura macrosc¨®pica y microsc¨®pica de las ves¨ªculas seminales de la Chinchilla laniger (Grey), bajo condiciones de cautiverio. La investigaci¨®n se realiz¨® en animales adultos (de 2 a 3 a os de edad), a trav¨¦s de un a o, con el objeto de determinar posibles variaciones estacionales. En este roedor nativo Sudamericano se analizaron los siguientes indicadores: pesos corporal y glandular, ¨ªndice organosom¨¢tico (IOS), di¨¢metro de la gl¨¢ndula, grosor de la pared y altura de las c¨¦lulas epiteliales. Los valores morfom¨¦tricos m¨¢s altos se obtuvieron durante el invierno y los m¨¢s bajos en verano, excepto el peso corporal, que no tuvo variaciones significativas (p>0,05), en el a o. El an¨¢lisis histoqu¨ªmico de la secreci¨®n glandular para detectar glicoprote¨ªnas neutras, sulfatadas y ¨¢cidas, con las t¨¦cnicas de PAS, Azul de Alcian pH 1 y pH 2,5, respectivamente, fueron negativas para todos los meses. Los resultados muestran que hay cambios morfol¨®gicos en las ves¨ªculas seminales, a trav¨¦s del a o, los que ser¨ªan coincidentes con las caracter¨ªsticas del ciclo reproductivo anual, descrito para esta especie. Se podr¨ªa concluir, que estas gl¨¢ndulas tambi¨¦n tendr¨ªan, a lo largo del a o, una actividad funcional c¨ªclica, la cual es m¨¢xima en la ¨¦poca oto o-invierno, estaci¨®n caracterizada por cortos per¨ªodos de luz en el Hemisferio Sur Macroscopic and microscopic structures of the seminal vesicles was described in Chinchilla laniger (GREY) under conditions of captivity. The experiments were performed in adults subjects along a period of one year (two to three years old) in order to determine possible seasonal variations. The following parameters were investigated in this South American native roedor: corporal and glandular weight, organo-somatic index (IOS), wall thickness, gland diameter and epithelial tissue high. Highest values were found in winter and lowest values in summer, except corporal weight that displayed no variations along the year (p>0.05). The histochemical analysis of glandular secretion revealed the absence of neutral glycoproteins sulphated and acids glycoproteins (as determined by PAS, Alcian Blue pH1 and pH2,5 respectively), through the period studied. In conclusion, the seminal vesicles of the Chinchilla laniger in captivity showed the highest secretory activity in the Fall-Winter seasons. The present results obtained from this period are consistent with the fact that it corresponds with the highest reproductive activity for the specie
