%X La comunidad cient¨ªfica venezolana celebra dos importantes aniversarios en 2011: 225 a os del nacimiento de Jos¨¦ Mar¨ªa Vargas y el centenario del natalicio de Tob¨ªas Lasser. En este art¨ªculo se compara la vida profesional y los logros de estos dos eminentes m¨¦dicos y bot¨¢nicos venezolanos. The Venezuelan scientific community celebrates two important anniversaries in 2011: 225 years of the birthday of Jos¨¦ Mar¨ªa Vargas, and the birth centennial of Tob¨ªas Lasser. In this paper the professional lives and achievements of these two eminent physicians and botanists are exposed and compared.
