%X Aim To investigate the importance of hysteroscopic biopsy of uterus in the screening of endometrial malignoma.Methods: The retrospective research , 36 women >40 years of age , who were addmitted at the Gynecology Department of General Hospital ''Prim. dr Abdulah Naka '' Sarajevo .All the patients had already been treated by tamoxiphen, after the surgical operation of breast cancer. Seven of 36 patients had an anamnestic data of metrorrhagia, and 29 patients were asymptomatic. Under the total anesthesia, all the patients were subjected to hysteroscopy. The exstracted material was subjected to patho-histological analysis, and partially to the liquid cytology method.Results In 22 of 36 patients histological findings implied the polypus, in 4 cases there was the cystic atrophy of endometrium, in four - the atrophy of endometrium, two patients showed atypical hyperplasia, and one - the endometrial neoplasia. In the case of 3 patients, ,uterus aspiration was performed , for cytological evaluation. Anamnestic information on metrorrhagia was recorded in four of 22 patients with endometrial polypus, one of them with atrophy, one with atypical hyperplasia, and one of them with neoplasia. Endometrial cytology findings did not indicate the presence of any abnormality.Conclusion In the case that hysteroscopy had been applied only in symptomatic patients, 18 patients with uterine polyp, one with atypical hyperplasia, and two with endometrium atrophy would have been without the established diagnosis. Asymptomatic patients with suspected endometrial pathology, should be subjected to hysteroscopy, while treated with antiastrogens. If an adequate uterine tissue sample cannot be taken, liquid cytology method can provide useful information.
