%X RFID is an exciting technology that uses passive and very low cost ¡°tags¡± to identify things. This is used more and more frequently to replace bar codes to identify items such as merchandise in a retail environment. Normally, the objects being tracked are ¡°tagged¡± and a sensor reads the RFID Tag in a ¡°many- to-few¡± system. A new concept called ¡°Reverse RFID¡± (R-RFID) reverses this technique: the tags are fixed and the objects being tracked have the reader. This is a very economical approach if there is a ¡°few-to-many¡± relationship. Thispaper describes how this innovative Reverse-RFID concept can be effectively utilized for the tracking of public transportation in India.
