O estudo foi conduzido por meio do m¨¦todo qualitativo, com a utiliza o da estrat¨¦gia da pesquisa etnogr¨¢ ca. Foram utilizadas t¨¦cnicas de observa o participante e entrevista em profundidade, al¨¦m da consulta a documentos e informa es dos dirigentes. Para an¨¢lise e categoriza o do material, utilizou-se um modelo anal¨ªtico desenvolvido por Penner (2002), composto por caracter¨ªsticas demogr¨¢ cas, categorias disposicionais, categorias organizacionais e identidade do papel volunt¨¢rio. Constatou-se que as caracter¨ªsticas demogr¨¢ cas n o in uenciam o voluntariado cont¨ªnuo. No entanto, determinadas categorias disposicionais - cren as e valores pessoais, personalidade pr¨®-social e motivos relacionados a voluntariado - denotam in uenciar o fen meno estudado. Quanto ¨¤s categorias organizacionais, concluiu-se que os atributos e pr¨¢ticas organizacionais, tamb¨¦m, in uenciam o voluntariado cont¨ªnuo. N o cou evidenciado se o relacionamento com a organiza o in uencia o voluntariado cont¨ªnuo. ---- Motivation for Continued Voluntary Work: an ethnographic survey in a spiritual organization ---- ABSTRACT ---- The objective of this work is to understand the factors that in uence the motivation for sustained voluntary work at the N¨²cleo Esp¨ªrita Nosso Lar, a spiritual organization located in Southern Brazil. The study was conducted using qualitative methods for ethnographic research. Empirical data was collected using participatory observation techniques and in-depth interviews, as well as document analysis and information given by the managers. For the analysis and categorization of the material an analytical model developed by Penner was used, composed of demographic characteristics, dispositional and organizational categories and the identity of the role of a volunteer. It was found that demographic characteristics do not in uence sustained voluntary work. However, certain dispositional categories ¨C personal beliefs and values, pro-social personality and motives connected to the volunteer ¨C do in uence the studied phenomenon. As for the organizational categories, it was concluded that organizational attributes and practices also in uence sustained voluntary work.
