%0 Journal Article %T DISORDERS OF READING AND WRITING: difficulties in reading learning for people with dyslexia %A Ana Lourdes dos Anjos Costa %J Biblionline %D 2010 %I Universidade Federal da Para¨ªba %X Reading is an activity that goes beyond thesimple decoding of signs, it is one of the mainways to obtain information and reflection,critical awareness, and knowledgeconstruction. Each reader constructs theirknowledge according to their reality andexperiences, thus, reading is also a productionprocess that could end up recreatingknowledge and expertise through this practice.In that sense, this research explains thedifficulties encountered by students who havesome kind of reading and writing disorder.These disorders hinder these students accessto information, hampering their satisfactoryperformance. This research states that severalprofessionals are involved in this process,namely, educators, physicians,ophthalmologists, psychologists and speechtherapists. However, why not insert thelibrarian among these professionals? Theresearch examines the role of the librarian inthe mediation of information to dyslexics andwhat are the real difficulties encountered byboth in this process. It is grounded in studiesof D'Affonseca, Condemar¨ªn, Blonquist,Foucambert, Calafange, Nutti, Freitas, Santos,Navas, among others. It was observed thatreading takes important role in the learningprocess;the lack of information makes difficultfor the society to understand the situation ofdyslexic; The research ratifies that librariansmust understand about the subject and others.It concludes with reflections on the librarians,in terms of their interdisciplinarity, which is achallenge to be sought and who is able to fulfilltheir true mission of mediating theinformation to everyone, without distinction ofany kind. %K Comunication disorders %K Dyslexia %K Reading.
