%0 Journal Article %T LIBRARIAN IN TRAINING FOR POTENTIAL READERS %A Keina Maria Guedes da Silva %J Biblionline %D 2010 %I Universidade Federal da Para¨Şba %X Since the librarian works with a powerful toolfor the development of human potentialities,which is reading, we attempted to promote,through playful workshops, reading activitiesthat focused on children s taste for reading,promoting a rich exchange of knowledge andleveraging social, political and culturalengagement of 40 children, aged 7-12 yearsold, from two Municipal public schools on theoutskirts of Fortaleza. The methodologyconsisted in the development of storytellingactivities; interactive dynamics oriented topractices of different readings; readingactivities with magazines, newspapers, booksof children and youth literature; andeducational primers. We disclose theimportance of reading practices, in a process ofreflection on what they represent in the lives ofchildren, explaining the use and importance ofreading to the development of society. Weobtained, thus, a satisfactory result with anincreasing awareness of the children to variouspossible paths through reading, in a potential,interactive, dynamic, collaborative, active, andcreative exercise, turning reading into a sourceof pleasure and leisure.
