To develop the paper, the subject analysis technique was employed. The corpus of analysis, 60 children¡¯s books collected, can be found in the doctoral thesis Physical Education and children¡¯s literature: applications in the scholastic environment (Botelho, 2010). The results obtained in this paper indicated that: (a) 30 subjects were identified in the 60 children¡¯s books analysed; (b) the subject football presented the great incidence, with 13,33% (eight books); (c) the second subject with great incidence is games, with 10,00% (six children¡¯s books); (d) the subjects ballet and running had, each one, 8,33% (five books); (e) the other subjects registered an inferior incidence of 8% (with 4 or less books); (f) the majority of subjects presented an incidence of 1,67% (only one children¡¯s book). The conclusions obtained in this article indicate that: (1) from the 30 subjects identified in the 60 children¡¯s books, the subject football had the great incidence; (2) the majority of subjects presented only one incidence. Este art¨ªculo tuvo por objetivo investigar la materia de los libros infantiles con tem¨¢tica relacionada con la Educaci¨®n F¨ªsica y el Deporte publicados en Espa a. Para el desarrollo del trabajo, se ha utilizado la t¨¦cnica del an¨¢lisis de materia. El corpus de an¨¢lisis, que reuni¨® 60 libros infantiles, se encuentra en la tesis doctoral Educaci¨®n F¨ªsica y literatura infantil: posibilidades de utilizaci¨®n en el ¨¢mbito escolar (Botelho, 2010). Los resultados obtenidos en este art¨ªculo se alaron que: (a) se identific¨® un total de 30 materias en los 60 libros infantiles analizados; (b) la materia f¨²tbol present¨® la mayor incidencia, con un 13,33% (ocho libros); (c) la segunda materia con mayor incidencia es la de juegos, con un 10,00% (seis obras infantiles); (d) las materias ballet y carrera tuvieron, cada una, un 8,33% (cinco libros); (e) las dem¨¢s materias registraron una incidencia inferior al 8% (con 4 ¨® menos libros); (f) la mayor¨ªa de las materias present¨® una incidencia de un 1,67% (solamente un libro infantil).
