%X Dass au erordentliche Erlebnisse, insbesondere in den Jahren der Jugend und Adoleszenz, sich auf politische Einstellungen auswirken, ist sozial-, politik- und geschichtswissenschaftlichen Betrachtungen ¨¹ber politische Bewegungen meist implizit. Wie genau der Zusammenhang nachzuvollziehen ist, bleibt jedoch oft hypothetisch. Im wachsenden Feld der Biografieforschung entstehen jedoch vielf ltige Arbeiten, in denen die Verschr nkung von Politik und Biografie verst rkt empirisch und hermeneutisch untersucht wird. F¨¹r seine Dissertation f¨¹hrte der Erziehungswissenschaftler Dirk MICHEL zun chst autobiografisch-narrative Interviews mit zwanzig j¨¹dischen Israelis und kategorisierte sie anhand au erordentlicher biografischer Ereignisse in zwei Gruppen, die "Gruppe deutscher Zionisten" und die "Gruppe deutscher Holocaust¨¹berlebender". Erst in einem zweiten Schritt, anhand von Leitfadeninterviews, untersucht er, inwiefern sich diese Gruppen hinsichtlich ihrer politischen Einstellungen unterscheiden. Sowohl die dualistische Kategorisierung der Interviewten als auch die konzeptionelle Umsetzung der Forschungsfrage und die weiteren analytischen Schritte konfligieren indes mit den theoretischen und methodischen Pr missen, auf die der Autor referiert. Most studies focusing on political movements only implicitly address the connection between biographical experiences and political attitudes. Moreover, a detailed understanding of these impacts often remains merely hypothetical. Biographical studies increasingly address the relationship between politics and biography through empirical and hermeneutic approaches. For his doctoral thesis, Dirk MICHEL conducts autobiographical narrative interviews with 20 Jewish Israelis. Based on their extraordinary biographical experiences, MICHEL categorized the interviewees into two groups¡ªthe "German Zionists" and the "German Holocaust survivors." He then conducts semi-structured interviews with each of the participants with the aim of analyzing their political attitudes. However, the conceptual categorization of the interviewees, the empirical investigation of the research question and the subsequent analysis all challenge the underpinning theoretical and methodological concepts of the study.
