%X The fast advancing global information infrastructure enable the development of electronic commerce at a global level. The nearly universal connectivity which the Internet offers has made it an invaluable business tool. This fast emerging economy is bringing with it rapidly changing technologies and increasing knowledge intensity in all areas of business. The paper analyzes the concept of e-commerce with a special emphasis on the status and prospects of its development in Serbia.
