%X Cine y nacionalismo presentan una interesante y continuada relaci¨®n, sobre todo a trav¨¦s de g¨¦neros como el ¨¦pico, hist¨®rico o de aventuras. Se estudia en el presente trabajo esta relaci¨®n, a partir del film ¡°El ¨²ltimo mohicano¡±, dirigido por Michael Mann en 1992, que presenta elementos clave para entender la importancia de la conformaci¨®n de los mitos sobre los or¨ªgenes de la naci¨®n norteamericana. El film, como la conocida novela en que se inspira libremente, centra su trama en aspectos y ¨¦pocas claves de los movimientos nacionalistas, al entroncar adem¨¢s con el movimiento cultural del romanticismo y su peculiar manera de valorar el pasado hist¨®rico y los or¨ªgenes de pueblos, culturas y naciones. Abstract in English: Cinema and nationalism show an interesting and ongoing relationship, especially through genres like epic, historical or adventure. We study in this article this relationship from the film "The Last of the Mohicans", directed by Michael Mann in 1992, which presents key elements for understanding the importance of the conformation of the myths about the origins of the American nation. The film, like the popular novel which it is based on, focuses on key aspects and periods of nationalist movements, in addition to fitting in with the cultural movement of Romanticism and its peculiar way of assessing the historical past and the origins of cultures and nations.
