%X La utilitzaci車 de programari lliure i obert (*FOSS) aporta nombrosos avantatges en l'角mbit universitari, que resulten encara m谷s patents en el marc de l'Espai Europeu d'Educaci車 Superior (EEES). Les principals caracter赤stiques del *FOSS (llibertat d'迆s de programes, acc谷s al codi font, estudi i adaptaci車, distribuci車 de c辰pies i implementaci車 de millores que beneficien a tota la comunitat) apareixen relacionades amb compet豕ncies com a creativitat, treball en equip o adaptaci車 a noves situacions. Aquest treball examina el paper del programari lliure en l'角mbit universitari i el seu potencial per a reduir la bretxa digital, presentant tamb谷 algunes experi豕ncies recents. The use of Free Open Source Software (FOSS) provides outstanding advantages in the university context, becoming especially clear in the new framework of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The main characteristics of FOSS (free use of programs, access to the source code, study and adaptation, distribution of copies and implementation of improvements that benefit all the community) appear related to competences as creativity, teamwork or adaptation to new situations. This paper examines the role of the free software in the university context, mainly emphasizing its potential to reduce the existing digital divide, and also showing some recent experiences.   La utilizaci車n de software libre y abierto (FOSS) aporta numerosas ventajas en el 芍mbito universitario, que resultan a迆n m芍s patentes en el marco del Espacio Europeo de Educaci車n Superior (EEES). Las principales caracter赤sticas del FOSS (libertad de uso de programas, acceso al c車digo fuente, estudio y adaptaci車n, distribuci車n de copias e implementaci車n de mejoras que beneficien a toda la comunidad) aparecen relacionadas con competencias como creatividad, trabajo en equipo o adaptaci車n a nuevas situaciones. Este trabajo examina el papel del software libre en el 芍mbito universitario y su potencial para reducir la brecha digital, presentando tambi谷n algunas experiencias recientes.
