%X Markets have evolved to require companies producing more product variety, smaller orders, reduced lead times and highly competitive production costs.SMED technique, designed by Shigeo Shingo in the 50s, is offered as an alternative to address this challenge of contemporary production.This technique provides a series of steps, in which carefully study the operations that take place during the batch process of change, making possible a radical reduction of preparation time.The result of the application of SMED is a flexible plant, able to meet the demand from current customers.
