%X Following the logic used by Newton to drive his inverse-square law, a consistent theoretical model can be derived satisfying the modern tests for a theory of gravitation. Gravitational redshift is derived by applying special relativity as a kinematical effect. The model is compared with that of General Relativity (GR) and it is shown that GR follows as an approximation to this model.
