%X The author, cultural manager of Parco Nord (Milano), points out the key elements of this periurban park that since the Seventies has been managing to turn out an outskirts in a new attractive point ofthe town.A park has not only an environmental meaning but also a cultural one: its identity may influence people¡¯s behaviours, uses and expectations as well. Thus territorial and hystorical features becomeopportunities for cultural planning, and they are taken in account when devicing opportunities for fruition and animation, always aiming at reinforcing the parks¡¯s own identity.Colombo articulates the three guiding principles that steer the park¡¯s cultural planning, then he recalls several site-specific events, from Biodiversity festival, that takes place every year, to the theater performances in nature such as The third Step, a visionary walk through the park at night and at dawn,taken as a symbol of a certain way of doing culture strictly connected to a way of living in nature.
