The objectiveof this paper was to assess cardiovascular risk (CR) in physicians. Methods: A descriptive correlationalcross-sectional study was carried out. The sample was non probabilistic, opinatic and volunteer, consisting of50 physicians working in hospitals, from various medical specialities. A clinical examination was done, andthe Inventory of Situations and Responses of Anxiety (ISRA) scale was applied. Results: For surgeons, cardiovascular risk was low in 84% (n=42), intermediate or high in 50% (n=4). Body mass index indicatedoverweight or obesity in 72% (n=36) of physicians, and 90% (n=9) of pediatricians. Serum LDL cholesterolwas high in 56% (n=28) of the sample, and 87.5% (n=7) of surgeons presented lipid alterations. 14% (n=7) were smokers, and 71.42% (n=5) of them were in surgicalspecialties. 24% (n=12) suffered anxiety. Conclusions: Surgeons presented more risk factors forcardiovascular disease, and the outstanding risk factor was body mass index. %K Cardiovascular risk factors %K Ischemic heart disease %K Physicians %U http://salus-online.fcs.uc.edu.ve/riesgo_isquemia_med_especialista.pdf
